Twin Kennedy

CLAAS is excited to welcome Twin Kennedy to Christina Lake.

It's like seeing double... Their musical bond is as strong as their small-town roots. Twin Kennedy, comprised of West Coast sisters Carli and Julie Kennedy, have been making music since they could talk. Born and raised in the small town of Powell River, BC, Twin Kennedy grew up perfecting their sibling harmonies and dynamic live performances, while making their name known throughout their small community as a family band.

Growing up in such a musically infused family, it is no wonder that these sisters crafted their sound through a unique fusion of their background in country, folk, jazz and classical music. With years of classical training, including their Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Performance from the University of Victoria, the sisters have found their home in country music. With Carli on vocals and guitar and Julie on vocals and fiddle, these petite powerhouses will fill your soul with joy and warmth through their seamless harmonies and heartfelt songwriting. No bond compares to that of sisters, and the same is to be said about the blend of their kindred voices.

This magical blend has been recognized internationally - Twin Kennedy was awarded the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for their original song “Secondhand Gold,” as well as the Lennon Award for Best Country Song and the Vancouver Island Music Award for Song of the Year. The duo has received three Canadian Country Music Award nominations, including Interactive Artist of the Year and two nominations for Fiddle Player of the Year (Julie), and their music has been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine and CMT. To top it all off, the twins were recently named Distinguished Alumni by the University of Victoria. “Call It Love”, the duo’s new single, is currently spinning on Sirius XM CBC Country.

Twin Kennedy’s family-friendly show has been a hit across North America. Now based in Nashville, TN, the duo crisscrosses the continent multiple times a year, receiving standing ovations everywhere they go. The sisters have commanded some of the top stages in Canada and beyond including performances at Canada Place, Canadian Music Week, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Bluebird Café, Sunfest, Rockin’ River Music Festival, Vancouver Olympics and Live at Heart Festival in Sweden.

Little Miss Higgins

CLAAS is pleased to announce that Little Miss Higgins is returning to the Christina Lake Welcome Centre. This time as a trio!!

From the Great Northern Plains of Western Canada, Little Miss Higgins struts and serenades her way, guitar in hand, lips blazoned red, onto any stage. It’s as if she just drove in off the back-road of another time with gravel dust and a sunset trailing behind her. This pocket-sized powerhouse plays music brewed up in old-time country blues, sprinkled with a little jazz and a hint of folk. And whether she’s singing songs about buying Bargain Shop Pantiesin small towns on tour, or plaintive and passionate love songs, she has a relatable knack for writing about real things. Her tunes are rooted in the truth, both practical and universal, and presented in a poetic and wonderful way.

Born in Brooks, Alberta, raised in Independence, Kansas, and now living in Winnipeg via a long stay in small town Saskatchewan, she brings her notable voice, acute observations and a wry humor to all she lives and sings about.

Music entered her life early. “When I was about four my dad bought this old piano at a local bar,” she recalls. “…a mini grand piano… I carved my name in the side and started taking piano lessons.” She now uses guitar and voice as her main instruments, and her theatre background, to bring a “refreshing sound and story to the stage.”

She’s been honoured with JUNO and Maple Blues Award nominations, and won Outstanding Blues Recording at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and Favourite Blues Artist/Group or Duo of the Year at the 8th Annual Indies Awards.

Single Advance Ticket $15 / $20 at the door
Advance Family Ticket $40 / $50 at the door
